I have always my staff to take the initiative and try and find ways to cut our spending. So far, that has not happened and I am thinking that I may have to drop some hints about it. I think that most of them are very aware that there have been a record number of layoffs in the past two years and they all still have a job. Our sales have dropped a little but not enough that I need to start cutting help.

I think that if they just start to look into how much we pay for office supplies and stuff, we could all realize that we might be able to find some other ways to save money. I know of at least two discount office furniture stores that I pass everyday while driving to work and I know that we do not use them but no one has even bothered to check into their prices and see if they are cheaper than our current provider of discount office furniture.

I look forward to a time when everyone is looking out for the company and not just for themselves. I guess that they do not realize how much money could be saved by putting your thinking cap on and looking at the numbers. Maybe if we just start with the office supplies, it will be enough for now.
